Wrangell-St. Elias
National Park

A parkwide Coalition for supporting and protecting the rights and freedoms of residents and landowners of the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park.

We are Residents of the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park (R.O.W.), a parkwide coalition with a common goal of banding together all residents and land-owners within (and in surrounding areas considered "resident zones") the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and preserve. Our primary goal is protection and sustainment of the rights and freedoms of the residents of the area. As a united group we hope to achieve a more effective voice when dealing with the issues that confront us in our daily lives. We want to leave no member of our communities to fight these battles alone. As a group, we will stand behind our members to tackle these issues, which are common to all of us, in hopes of resolving them peacefully but effectively.

This includes people living in the following general areas: Glennallen, Kenny Lake, Chitina, McCarthy/Kennicott, Mentasta, Tok, Slana, Nabesna...

We seek resolution of the problems and tensions between residents of the area and the park service. Our primary focus is the preservation of our access rights and definition and preservation of “Traditional and Customary” uses. We are dedicated to preserving our way of life, despite the fact that our private lands are enveloped by the National Park. You are invited to join us in our quest to preserve our lifestyle, in return we will join you in your quest to preserve your lifestyle.
